Perhaps one of Napa Valley’s most compelling vintages in the past decade, 2016 was a textbook year for growers with even keeled, mild conditions from bud break onward. This resulted in excellent precision in the vine and the ability to pick small lots of the canyon over several weeks.
With a regal deep garnet color in the glass and black cherries forming the initial bouquet, the wine opens further with layers of hazelnut, blackberry jam, and herbs. Rich fruits on the palate with elegant structure and depth. Benefiting from soft morning sunlight, the 2016 East Elevation was grown in blocks 1, 2, 3, and 4 with slopes ranging from 10-30%.
